James Pearce has played down suggestions that Liverpool have made an offer for Saul Niguez on the 1892 Podcast.
No Saul?
Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Saul from Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish club may be forced to offload some of their top talents due to financial issues.
However, Pearce suggests that if Liverpool do move for the Spanish international it will not be for some time yet, and that no bid has been submitted at this stage.
“At the moment it’s pretty tenuous. There were some reports of a £35m bid going in. My information is that definitely wasn’t correct. At the moment it’s a case of wait and see depending on what they can raise from sales.”
A great addition?
The appeal of a potential move for Saul is clearly appealing to Liverpool supporters.
The central midfielder is one of the most heralded box to box midfielders in European football right now.

Saul carries a goal threat, but he is also an adept defender and he has the energy levels required to thrive in Liverpool’s high pressing system.
With the Reds losing Georginio Wijnaldum, there is a gap in their midfielder.
But whether Liverpool would be willing to commit a sizeable sum in an attempt to land a player who is already in their peak remains to be seen.
