‘My gut tells me’… Journalist reckons ‘very talented’ man could be leaving Tottenham now

Tottenham had a massive backroom shake-up this summer.

Of course, the arrival of Ange Postecoglou also saw the arrival of a brand new coaching staff in north London, and now, one of those coaches could already be on the way out.

Indeed, Swansea City have this week made an approach for Chris Davies, and speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has claimed that his gut feeling on this is that Davies may actually make the move to the Swans.

Gold says that Davies is very talented, but given how good this opportunity is, he thinks he could go.

Davies could go

Gold shared his verdict on this situation.

“Then on top of that we’ve had the Chris Davies stuff. Chris Davies is the highly-regarded Spurs assistant coach. He was brought in in the summer into Ange Postecoglou’s team. He was previously a Brendan Rodgers man. Swansea wanted him in the summer, and now they’ve come back in for him. My gut tells me it might happen, and Postecoglou didn’t really do much to dissuade me otherwise, he’s only 38 Chris Davies and he’s a very talented guy,” Gold said.

Fair enough

If Chris Davies does decide to leave Tottenham we really wouldn’t blame him.

The chance to go and manage in the Championship is a great opportunity for any young coach, and to go to Swansea City is another great opportunity too.

Swansea have quietly been the launching pad for many managers over the years. Roberto Martinez, Brendan Rodgers, Graham Potter and Steve Cooper all got their big breaks in south Wales, and we wouldn’t begrudge Davies at all if he fancied having a crack at this job.

Who knows? If Davies does well and follows that Rodgers/Potter trajectory, perhaps he could be back at Spurs in a few years’ time, but, by the sounds of it, he may not be in north London much longer now.
