Arsene Wenger spoke about Arsenal and Mikel Arteta at the world premiere of Arsene Wenger: Invincible at the Finsbury Park Picturehouse last night.

The legendary Frenchman left the Emirates in 2018 and is yet to return to even watch a game. He has distanced himself from Arsenal after his painful exit, but he’s still a big fan.

Wenger has been keeping a close eye on the club he adores. Arteta, after a woeful start, has turned things around and the Gunners are now unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions.

Wenger was asked to give Arteta and Arsenal fans some advice yesterday. Here’s what he said…

Wenger: I hope Arsenal and Arteta can continue their momentum

The Frenchman said, as per The Independent: “My advice is just to the fans to continue to support the club.

“To Arteta to continue to try and gain the momentum to keep this going. They have invested a lot of money and hopefully, some potential in the team and (I hope they) continue to keep that momentum in the team.”

Arteta was also present at the event and he heaped praise on Wenger. He said: “He is the reason why I am a manager.

“He was always very supportive because he believed that one day, probably it’s been a little bit sooner than expected, but I had what I had to have to become a manager.”

Momentum is everything in football and the international break has arguably come at the wrong time for the Gunners.

After a terrible start that saw them lose three games on the bounce and end up at the bottom of the league table, Arteta has turned things around. Arsenal are currently fifth, just three points off defending champions Manchester City.

Wenger’s message is perfect, just keep up the momentum. However, it’s easier said than done and the Gunners’ first game after the international break – against Liverpool at Anfield – will tell us exactly how far away from the top they really are.
