M’Vila in, Modric out

Today, Tottenham have finally reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Luka Modric for a fee in the region of £30m.

The Croatia midfielder, 26, has passed a medical and is set to sign a five-year contract.

Everyone already knows how important a player Modric has been for Tottenham since he joined the club in 2008. He made 150 appearances for the London club scoring 17 goals in total.

Andre Villas Boas had attempted to stall the transfer for as long as possible, knowing Modric would be a tough player to lose. But it seems he’s already targeting his replacement.

Spurs have submitted a bid to sign 22-year-old France midfielder Yann M’Vila from Rennes, according to the Ligue 1 club.

It is understood Tottenham have proposed a fee of £12.7m with add-ons, though Rennes want an unconditional £15m.

After M’Vila rejected moves to Zenit St Petersburg and Shakhtar Donetsk, Tottenham’s bid is the only one on the table at present.

The defensive midfielder who featured in his side’s 3-2 victory over Bastia on Saturday, hoped to travel to London early this week to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical – but the transfer has not developed as swiftly as expected.

Before the transfer window closes, hopefully we’ll see M’Vila complete a move to White Hart Lane. AVB has already made it clear he’s not satisfied with his squad, we can expect him to add to his team before Friday ends.
