Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that just like Fabio Vieira, Eddie Nketiah has got so much stronger this season.

Nketiah got amongst the goals once again last night as he bagged a brace to help Arsenal beat Oxford United 3-0 in the FA Cup.

The 23-year-old has now scored four goals in his last four starts since he replaced the injured Gabriel Jesus in Arteta’s side.

There were fears that Arsenal would struggle without the Brazilian and while more difficult tests lie ahead, Nketiah is proving he can step-up at the moment.

Vieira also put in an eye-catching display as he helped himself to two assists at the Kassam Stadium.

Arteta praised the Portuguese midfielder for making huge physical improvements ahead of the clash. Now, the Gunners boss says Nketiah has also improved this side of his game recently.

Arteta on Nketiah

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website, Arteta expressed his delight at Nketiah’s impact since the return of Premier League football.

“[Eddie] is in a really good moment. His confidence is building and physically he looks much better, and today I think he played a really good game again,” he said.

The Arsenal academy product was handed a huge vote of confidence from the club before the season got underway as he put pen to paper on a new deal.

Nketiah had found chances in the Premier League hard to come by due to Jesus’ impact but he’s certainly taking his chance in the Brazilian’s absence.

The Englishman proved last season that he is capable of providing goals so it should not come as a surprise that he’s managing to find the back of the net once again.

Arteta will be hoping Nketiah can carry his brilliant form into a huge clash against their bitter rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
