Moyes jokes off £100m fee for Rice as a 'bargain' that's no longer attainable

Moyes laughs off Rice transfer with talk of £100m being a bargain.

The West Ham manager opened up when talking about his captain.

He claimed that not only is the previously stated £100m fee for Rice a bargain, but that he’ll now not be going for that.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are linked with a move for Rice.

However, they’ll have to pay a huge fee for the England and West Ham star.

When asked whether he worried about the interest in Rice, Moyes said:

“No I don’t, because there was a bargain to be got with Declan at £100m. That bargain’s now gone.”

“So we have a lot of really good players at this football club.”

“I think while you’re building and developing, people might always come and look at your players.”

“But it’s good that they are because that tells us that they’re doing well.”

These comments come just seven months on from when Moyes claimed that Rice would only go for a fee of £100m (Sky Sports).

If Rice is to leave for one of Manchester United or Chelsea then it would be a huge move.

For the Hammers, Rice is an essential player.

If they are to keep up their push for the Champions League places then Rice will be essential.

The Hammers’ win over Spurs put them 4th, but the season is a long one.

With the Irons also competing in the Europa League, a top 4 finish will be tough.

However, it’s certainly possible, especially with Rice in the form of his life.
