Landry N’Guemo has responded to a Celtic fan on Twitter, asking if the defensive midfielder would ever consider returning to Parkhead as the summer window closes in.

The 33-year-old was signed by Tony Mowbray in the summer of 2009 on loan from French side AS Nancy. He amassed an impressive 43 appearances for the Hoops, as Celtic finished six points behind Old Firm rivals Rangers.

He has since been somewhat of a journeyman, moving to French sides Bordeaux and St. Etienne, before chancing his arm in Turkey with Akhisarspor and then Kayserispor. He is currently playing for Norwegian side Kongsvinger.

A Celtic fan asked the 42-time Cameroon international if he would ever return to Parkhead, and Hoops fans will love his answer as the veteran stated “I would be honoured”. He is out of contract at the end of June.

TBR’s view

Now playing in the second tier of Norwegian football, Nguemo is far past his best and a move to Parkhead would be a bad decision by whoever is in charge this summer.

A top player in his day, Nguemo was known for his strength in the middle of the park, as well as his recovery speed and lung-busting stamina. He was also more than adept at picking a pass.

But he has gone off the boil and is now way below the standard of player Celtic should be looking at. Nevertheless, his sentimental response will delight and endear himself to Celtic fans.
