Mowatt and Tyler Denton laud Leeds star on Instagram
Alex Mowatt and Tyler Denton joined several Leeds United fans in lauding Kalvin Phillips after the midfielder posted on Instagram following the final day of the season.
Phillips helped Marcelo Bielsa’s men end the campaign in some style on Sunday.
The midfielder scored Leeds’s second as they beat West Brom 3-1 at Elland Road.
Unfortunately, the game ended in hugely disappointing fashion for Phillips. His mistake allowed the visitors to score their goal.
And he had to be helped from the field after injuring his shoulder as he made one final full-blooded challenge in stoppage-time.
Phillips did not mention his injury as he posted on Instagram. Instead, the 25-year-old focused on the campaign as a whole.
He also paid tribute to Gaetano Berardi and Pablo Hernandez, and the supporters as they finally returned to Elland Road.
And in response, former teammates Denton and Mowatt sent messages to the England international.
It is fantastic to see how well Phillips has adapted to life in the Premier League.
There have been several occasions when he has stood out in a Leeds side that have won plaudits right throughout the campaign.
The hope is now that he can recover quickly from his injury. From there, Euro 2020 and Leeds’s second year back at English football’s top table loom.
