Moussa Sissoko’s howler against Barcelona should be his last act in a Spurs shirt

Moussa Sissoko was handed a rare outing for Tottenham Hotspur last night.

But rather than take his opportunity against Barcelona, Sissoko further proved why he needs to be axed.

Sissoko replaced Son Heung-Min in the 66th minute with Spurs chasing a draw.

But his mistake gifted Lionel Messi with a 90th minute goal to confirm Barca’s victory at Wembley.

The France international inexplicably passed back towards his own goal but perfectly dissected all of his players.

This allowed Messi to race through and net his second of the evening.

Sissoko’s time at Tottenham has been disastrous. He has failed to live up to the form he showed in Euro 2016 which earned him the move.

The 29-year-old was making his fourth appearance of the season for Tottenham last night and it should be his last.

With Erik Lamela on form and the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Son and Lucas Moura able to rotate behind Harry Kane, there is no need for Sissoko.

Once Eriksen is back fit, Sissoko could well drop out of the match day squad altogether.

It has been a torrid spell in North London for the Frenchman. Pochettino needs to sell him in January and drop him from the squad until then.
