Moussa Sissoko says it’s ‘nice’ to play with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The midfielder joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg hasn’t been at Tottenham Hotspur for very long but he’s made an impression on Moussa Sissoko. The Dane signed from Southampton for around £15m back in August and has since become a regular.

In fact, Hojbjerg has played every minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign thus far. His ability to sit in the middle of the pitch creates a fantastic pivot for the rest of the team as he wins tackle, makes interceptions and moves the ball about.
He’s a pivot that someone like Sissoko can take advantage of. The Frenchman can get about the pitch with constantly Hojbjerg covering, while he also knows his teammate can find him anywhere.
It’s no surprise, then, that Sissoko says he enjoys playing with Hojbjerg.
“I think since he came, since his first game, he’s shown all of his quality. He brings a lot of energy to the team,” said Sissoko, per Football London. “He’s a great midfield player.
“Of course he’s young, but he also has some experience because he’s been playing in a few teams before.
“To play with him of course is nice. Every player will play with him, like when Winksy played a few games with him he was very happy to play with him. That’s good.
“Hopefully he’s going to keep going in that way and keep bringing all of his energy and his ability on the pitch, even with the ball he’s a good footballer.”
TBR View:
It’s one thing to sign a good player, another to sign one who makes others better, too. But that’s what Hojbjerg does. He’s a player who allows other players to go about their jobs without worrying elsewhere.
Sissoko is a fine example as an athletic, box-to-box type of player. He wants to run into space, drive with the ball, and get about the pitch. That’s difficult to do if he needs to worry about leaving space in the middle.
He’s not the only one, either. The forwards will benefit from Hojbjerg’s passing range, while the defence have him as a constant passing option. All in all, it’s £15m very well spent.
