Moussa Sissoko has sent a message to the Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter after Mauricio Pochettino’s side returned to winning ways with a 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade in their latest Champions League fixture.
Spurs won their first game since September on Tuesday. They had calmed any nerves inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium within 16 minutes as Harry Kane broke the deadlock and Son Heung-min doubled the lead.
Son made the game virtually safe just before the break. And Kane rounded off the scoring after Erik Lamela had added a fourth before the hour-mark.
The win has drastically changed the complexion of Spurs’s Champions League group. Tottenham now sit second in the table, and will move four points clear if the group’s results are repeated in early November.
Pochettino will be hoping that the result represents a turning point in the club’s season. Their defeats to Bayern Munich and Brighton before the international break left Spurs fans stunned.
And the draw with Watford at the weekend saw any cautious optimism that returned during the break largely evaporate.
Tottenham fans will not be getting carried away with the result. But, as Sissoko noted, it is something that Spurs could build upon.
The midfielder took to social media to express his delight at the win and pay tribute to the supporters for sticking by the team.
Here is what Sissoko posted…
Very happy to find the way back to victory in front of our fans! 🙏🏿We must keep the good ones demonstrated tonight and continue to work to maintain this momentum. Thanks to all our fans who never gave up on us 💪🏿💪🏿🔥 #COYS #MS17 #UCL pic.twitter.com/oo24k4TOnX
