Moussa Sissoko joins Tottenham Hotspur from Newcastle United - Twitter reacts
So, it has happened. Moussa Sissoko has finally got his dream move away from St. James’ Park. Hoorah, great news. Except, wait, it’s all been a bit of a farce really, hasn’t it?
First, Sissoko expressed his desire to leave Newcastle United, and then the club slapped a £20 million price tag on his head, before upping this to £35 million after the midfielder went on to shine for France in this summer’s European Championships. Despite being virtually anonymous for the previous 12 months whilst his club battled against relegation, Sissoko was one of the competition’s standout performers.
Consequently, there were rumours of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, before Sissoko amusingly issued a come-and-get-me plea to Real Madrid. Unfortunately, the Spanish club did not respond to his appeals to become the latest Galactico, and the only confirmed interest came from Crystal Palace, who were unwilling to meet the Magpies’ asking price.
Tottenham Hotspur made their move for the player yesterday, and today, Everton joined the race for the midfielder, leading to multiple twists and turns throughout the day. It’s all transpired to be both tiresome and fascinating at the same time, but Spurs have eventually come out on top, with Sissoko finally rescued from the footballing purgatory that was his time in the North East. The North London club will be receiving one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League on his day, but the big question is whether Ronald Koeman can get the best out of the 27-year-old on a regular basis.
Here is how twitter reacted to the news …
Some Spurs fans were happy with the news …
Think Sissoko will be a good buy. A powerhouse who will actually drive at defences. Versatile too. Poch will get the best out if him. #COYS

Glad we didn't get Sissoko, may well of worked out well but felt like it was just a last minute "we have to sign someone" signing #EFC #COYB

I'm not bothered that we've missed out on Sissoko. I'm more bothered about the fact we've left our transfer business so late

The Geordie faithful seem to be glad to see the back of him …
After tonight lets forget about Moussa Sissoko & not talk about him anymore, concentrate on the players that are delighted to be here #nufc
