Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko could end up saving the club millions of pounds in the next transfer window.
The Frenchman has finally found his feet at the club after a difficult couple of years.
The penny appears to have dropped with the player this term, and is really taking advantage of the game time he’s being handed.
Sissoko has been called on by Mauricio Pochettino quite a lot in the last few weeks, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama both out injured.
It’s being reported that Dembele is being lined up by Italian giants Juventus and Internazionale in January.
Both are looking to take advantage of the fact that he’s into the final year of his contract.
Do Tottenham already have his replacement?
Tottenham are expected to spend in January since they didn’t make any new signings in the summer, but ironically Sissoko’s form might be reason for them not to splash the cash again – at least in midfield.
It’s looking likely that Dembele will leave the club in one of the next two transfer windows.
But Sissoko has proven he can operate as a holding midfielder capable of surging forward in the same way Dembele used to.
He could end up saving the club millions.
If he can convince Mauricio Pochettino he can be the long-term option, then there’ll be no need to sign anybody to replace Dembele – and money can be invested into the team elsewhere.
