Tottenham earned a narrow 1-0 away victory at West Ham on Saturday in the Premier League and midfielder Moussa Sissoko will have raised a few eyebrows with his performance.

Erik Lamela’s goal gave Spurs three points and they have now won their last four consecutive league games.

Sissoko, who earns £80,000-a-week (spotrac.com), was remarkably one of the outstanding Spurs players at the weekend and made the most of a start from manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The 29-year-old has been a major flop since he joined the North London club back in 2016 and has struggled for regular game-time.

But he will have shocked many people by turning in a matured performance in the centre of the park and playing a key role in the win.

The Frenchman assisted Lamela’s first-half goal with an excellent left-footed cross that was put on a plate for his teammate.

Sissoko was also fully of energy on the counter attack with his speed and showed a work-rate that helped him contribute defensively too.

Pochettino must have been pleased with the midfielder’s performance and the best bit of advice he could give to him is to simplify his game.

Sissoko often plays himself into trouble when he tries to overcomplicate it, but he needs to play to his strengths of being a powerhouse and he should get more minutes if he can deliver similar performances to the one he did at the London Stadium.
