Moussa Sissoko can feel hard done by if he’s axed in Tottenham v PSV

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko turned in one of his best Tottenham performances at the weekend in recent times, which is why it would be a major blow to him if he is dropped on Wednesday evening.

Spurs travel to Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven for a pivotal Champions League group stage match, as both teams lost their opening two matches against Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side go into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 win over West Ham in the Premier League, where Sissoko was a key player in the victory.

The 29-year-old assisted Erik Lamela’s goal with a brilliant left-footed cross, while he was full of running and energy in the centre of the park.

It would seem a no-brainer that Sissoko retains his starting position for the European clash, but Pochettino has confirmed that midfielder Christian Eriksen is back in contention after his injury.

Sissoko would not be considered in Spurs’ best XI when every player is available and it will be interesting to see if he keeps his spot away at PSV.

The Frenchman has had a frustrating spell with the North London club since he joined for £30million (BBC) back in 2016 and just needs to try find some consistency.
