Celtic fans were given reason for concern over the weekend with the Daily Mirror reporting that Arsenal are monitoring Odsonne Edouard ahead of the summer.
Edouard has been sensational again this term. And the Mirror suggested that Mikel Arteta was interested in signing the £30 million-rated striker regardless of whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stays or leaves the Gunners.
It would be a huge blow for the Hoops to lose Edouard. Although their transfer kitty will receive a major boost, signing a replacement would be incredibly difficult for Neil Lennon.
But perhaps, based on more recent reports, it could be a former Bhoy who comes to Lennon’s rescue.
According to Le10 Sport, Arsenal are also interested in Moussa Dembele. It is suggested that he could cost at least £73 million.
Dembele has continued to impress after leaving Parkhead in 2018. The 23-year-old – who scored 51 times in 94 games in all competitions for Celtic – has bagged 31 goals in 60 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon.
It is now difficult to imagine the youngster not making a big-money move in one of the coming windows.
And Celtic supporters would be forgiven for wanting him to head to Arsenal. It may not put an end to speculation concerning Edouard. But it may delay the current Hoops star’s departure if the Gunners are out of the race.
You only have to look at the responses to any of Dembele’s tweets to see that he remains an incredibly popular figure amongst the Celtic supporters.
And that popularity will surely only increase if he proves to be the striker Arsenal bring in this summer.
