Celtic took on Lyon and a familiar face in a pre-season friendly yesterday, as they lost 2-1 to the French side.

Mo Elyounoussi’s late strike for Celtic proved a mere consolation as former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele and Dutch forward Memphis Depay scored what proved to be the winning goals.

Of course, for Dembele, it was likely a surreal moment against a club he once represented with aplomb.

After the game, the striker openly admitted as much.

Taking to his Twitter account, the Frenchman admitted it seemed weird scoring against his former employers and made it clear the two paths would cross again in the future.

Of course, Dembele was likely referring to Celtic facing Lyon again sometime soon, or indeed wherever he might end up after the French club.

But Celtic’s official Twitter account had to ask the question, suggesting there might be a small chance that Dembele could one day return to Celtic.

That might be possible, but it won’t be for a while.

After impressing at Lyon since his big-money move from Parkhead, Dembele has been linked with moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs. A recent report from the Daily Star suggested that Dembele currently carries a £60 million price-tag, putting him well out of Celtic’s price-range.

But who knows? When Dembele’s career is winding down, perhaps he would be open to a Parkhead return for one last hurrah.
