Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele congratulated his former side Celtic on Twitter after they won the Scottish Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

The Bhoys came from behind to beat Hearts 2-1, with Odsonne Edouard the hero with his two goals.

Interim boss Neil Lennon got the Bhoys over the line to complete a third consecutive season of domestic trebles, which has now seen him offered the managerial job on a permanent basis.

Dembele enjoyed an excellent spell during his time at Parkhead, scoring 51 goals in 94 games for the Scottish giants.

The French striker played his part in the ‘Treble Treble’ before exiting in the summer and the rest of the squad have carried on the success this season.

Dembele posted on social media after the cup triumph, while he also aimed a dig at Old Firm rivals for their lack of success.

“Few weeks ago Rangers threw a party for their six wins in a row, today we celebrate making history and our nine trophies in a row… Celtic Treble Treble winners, congrats to both clubs on their achievement,” Dembele wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Dembele’s post is going to mean he remains a favourite with Celtic supporters long after his departure and he was some player during his time in Scotland.

The 22-year-old has effectively been replaced by Edouard in the team and he proved his worth with a match-winning display against Hearts.

Dembele’s dig at Rangers is harmless fun and it has been a real spell of dominance by Celtic.

But Rangers have closed the gap during one year under Steven Gerrard and will surely becoming even stronger next year, which is why they could challenge Lennon’s Celtic for the silverware.
