Jose Mourinho is interested in the Lyon job this summer as he eyes a return to management, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
They report that the former Manchester United boss has made it plain that France would be an attractive destination to get back in the saddle.
Lyon have enjoyed an impressive season under current boss Bruno Genesio but L’Equipe also reported recently that the 52-year-old coach is still in limbo over a new contract at the club.
That has reportedly interested Newcastle United, who may well be in the market for a new boss themselves if an agreement cannot be reached over the future of Rafa Benitez.

So if Mourinho did go to Lyon, it would free Genesio up to move to Newcastle, should Mike Ashley decide to dispense with the services of Benitez.
That would not be a popular choice among the fans at St James’ Park – they are all firmly behind Benitez – but there is little doubt that Mourinho’s to management could pave the way.
Ashley should give Benitez the control, spending and autonomy he wants to reshape Newcastle back to where they need to be – that much is obvious.
Whether he will do it is a different matter. The fact Genesio was even on their radar initially anyway may concern the fans, and if he moves closer to a departure, Mourinho’s interest in the Lyon job may create similar concerns.
