Jose Mourinho has suggested that he was very happy with the performances from Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela following Tottenham Hotspur’s win on Sunday – in comments reported by Football London.
Lucas and Lamela looked to be two of the only shining lights to emerge from Spurs’ midweek defeat. The pair came off the bench with just over 20 minutes remaining and made a difference.

They were rewarded with starts against West Brom this weekend. And they certainly vindicated Mourinho’s decision to include them from the off.
Both of the South Americans brought real intent to Tottenham’s attacking play. They were happy to run with the ball, and they both produced some moments of real quality in the final third.

And when asked about Lamela after the game, Mourinho suggested that he could not ask for any more from either player.
“I’m very happy. I love the way Lamela and Lucas came to the game against Chelsea. I love that compromise. I loved even their talk before they came to the pitch. Big compromise to the team,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“Both of them proper men, proper team men and I was so happy with them that I decided to start the game with them and they were both very good, really, really good.”
Spurs clearly benefitted from Harry Kane’s return. But the inclusions of Lamela and Lucas played its part in freshening up a Tottenham attack that had gone fairly stale in recent weeks.
The pair have started just eight league games between them this season. But there is surely no way that Mourinho can justify leaving either man out of his starting lineup moving forward.
