Mourinho planning to sell Luiz: Is the Brazilian headed to PSG?

Fan favorite and Chelsea hierarchy’s favorite David Luiz might be leaving Stamford Bridge the coming summer. Rumours have it “The Happy One” is “unhappy” with the Brazilian, both in terms of performance and behavior.

The former Benfica star, who joined Chelsea under Carlo Ancelotti is set to be axed by Jose Mourinho. Luiz who played a key role under Roberto Di Matteo and Rafael Benitez is seen as a surplus by the two time #UCL winning manager.

David Luiz was at the heart of Chelsea’s defense during the 2011-2012 season. He played an important role in Chelsea’s European Champions Cup triumph.

The next season Rafael Benitez preferred Luiz over John Terry. Terry was used as substitute almost every game whereas Luiz played and filled Terry’s boots. He was tipped by many Chelsea fans as the successor of John Terry as the captain of Chelsea FC (even I thought the same). Benitez even promoted Luiz up the pitch and as I remember he played as an attacking midfielder against FC Basel in the Europa League.

But Luiz failed to impress Mourinho this season and he is always seen as an extra central defender and used a cover for Terry and Cahill. Mourinho seems to be pretty impressed with Terry and Cahill holding the central defender position.

Davis Luiz was used a defensive midfielder by Mourinho. After Luiz’s poor show against Crystal Palace it was reported that Mourinho is ready to offload him in the summer.

Mourinho needs to spend according to the rules of FFP (Financial Fair Play). Chelsea need money to purchase a striker, most probably Diego Costa or Edinson Cavani. To facilitate the signing of a striker, Mourinho needs to sell Luiz.

Luiz is rated around 35M Euros by Mourinho. Cash rich oil kings PSG and Barcelona have publicly declared their desire to sign the Barzilian. It looks like Luiz will land in Paris as Barcelona have just been given a 14 month transfer ban.

All eyes are on Luiz who might start against his future employers, PSG in tonight’s Champions League Quarter Final match in Paris.

Don’t miss the action tonight. It’s going to be a blockbuster
