Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that Giovani Lo Celso will be in the Spurs squad to face LASK in the Europa League this evening.
The Argentine has missed Tottenham’s last two games due to a thigh complaint, but returned to full training this week.
In conversation with the Spurs media team, Mourinho spoke of the increased bench size in European competition, enabling him to name 12 substitutes as opposed to the Premier League’s seven.
This would enable him to name players coming back from injury such as Lo Celso, said the Portuguese, who also confirmed just Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga are unavailable.
“The Europa League give us the opportunity to have 12 players involved, so it’s easy for me and the players because they all feel involved,” Mourinho told the Spurs app.
“Even players like Giovani Lo Celso, coming from injury, can be involved. It’s only Dier and Tanganga out – and everybody else is fit.”
Spurs, who are shown they’re capable of racking up impressive scorelines this season, will be hoping to return to winning ways after their capitulation against West Ham at the weekend.
Lo Celso’s likely return to the squad is great news for the team, as he’s been one of Tottenham’s most consistent performers this year and provides plenty of creativity and tenacity.
