Moritz Bauer has taken to Instagram to confirm he will be leaving Celtic at the end of the season after his loan spell from Stoke City came to an end – and plenty of Hoops teammates have responded to his post.
Bauer, 28, was a surprise loan signing from Stoke last summer as Neil Lennon looked to bring in cover on the right side of the defence. Lennon wanted cover despite signing Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong.
The Austria international only clocked up 13 appearances for Celtic, though, thoughout the entire 2019-20 campaign. Bauer only suffered two defeats when on the pitch – but he failed to make an impact north of the border.
Now, Bauer has taken to Instagram to thank Celtic teammates and the club itself for his season-long loan spell in Glasgow. The Austrian defender will now return to the Britannia, where he has three years left on his contract.
A £5.5million signing (Stoke City website) from Russian side Rubin Kazan in January 2018, Bauer is expected to have played his last game for Stoke – which came in the form of a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in May 2019.
Plenty of Celtic players reacted on Instagram to Bauer’s departing message including Karamoko Dembele, Mo Elyounoussi and Mikey Johnston – while former Hoops star Kouassi Eboue also sent Bauer a message.
