It seems as though Everton are ready to lose Idrissa Gana Gueye in the summer. As reported by the Daily Mail this weekend the Senegalese midfielder looks set for a £40 million exit, with Manchester United and PSG both keen.
It will be a big loss to Everton, however, thanks to one man’s turnaround, it will be less keenly felt.
Everton fans had all but given up on Morgan Schneiderlin.
He was accused by many of downing tools during the end of Ronald Koeman’s tenure at Goodison Park. His performances were certainly of that ilk and Everton fans even resorted to booing the Frenchman.
Signed for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £22 million from Manchester United he initially thrived on Merseyside but his second season form was so poor many expected he would be sold.
However, in recent weeks he has proved himself worthy of another chance at Everton.
Schneiderlin looks happy on the pitch again and has been putting in some sublime performances.
At one stage, Everton fans would have happily driven Schneiderlin to a new destination. However, his performances this season, when called upon, suggest he still has a future at Goodison Park.
