Morgan Schneiderlin has claimed that Everton teammate Lucas Digne is type of player you can go to war with on the football pitch.
The Toffees signed Digne for £18million (BBC) last year and he’s just enjoyed an excellent first campaign in English football.
Digne has stepped in seamlessly to the starting XI at left-back and taken over the reigns from veteran Leighton Baines.
The 25-year-old defender was one of the consistent performers in Marco Silva’s team and looks a potential bargain.
He’s a difficult defender to beat one-on-one, while going forward he’s proven his quality too.
The Frenchman scored four goals and supplied five assists in 37 games across all competitions for Everton.
“He has amazing technical ability and can run up and down,” Schneiderlin told the club’s official website.
“I hope he can be at the club for a long time. Lucas is the kind of guy you can go to war with. He is a big character and, for sure, he is as good a left-back as I have played with.”
Digne has been a revelation at Goodison Park in the last year and picking up him for Barcelona has proven to be a genius addition.
He looks at the level required to help the team push for European football and found it relatively comfortable adjusting to the Premier League.
The left-footed ace is a set-piece specialist that can deliver a great cross into the box and he may have been robbed of some more assists this season due to inconsistent finishing.
It looked like it would be a helpless task for Everton to eventually find a direct replacement to club legend Baines, but it’s turned out straight forward with the arrival of new fan favourite Digne on Merseyside.
