Morgan Rogers says player Liverpool let go in 2014 was actually better than Man City legend Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero is one of the greatest strikers to have ever played in the Premier League.

Whether it be Aguero’s goal record, the variety of his finishing, technical ability or the completeness of his game; the Argentine was simply world-class in every regard.

The former Manchester City marksman was a truly special player, whose brilliance was also accompanied by several medals in his trophy cabinet, winning five league titles, one FA Cup and five Carabao Cup trophies.

Producing arguably the greatest moment in Premier League history by scoring a last-gasp goal to clinch City’s first title in 44 years, Sergio Aguero is a true legend of the game.

Morgan Rogers says Luis Suarez was better than Sergio Aguero

During his time at City, Aguero was often compared to another South American goalscorer in Luis Suarez.

Aguero and Suarez, considered one of the Premier League’s best January signings were two of the league’s finest frontmen, both comparable due to their low centre of gravity and habit of singlehandedly tearing teams to shreds due to being extremely well-rounded strikers.

In the 2013/2014 season in particular, while both Aguero and Suarez were compared at both, the former had the last laugh due to Manchester City pipping Liverpool to the league title.

However, in Morgan Rogers’ eyes, the treble-winner was better than the City icon when asked to pick between the pair by GOAL’s Front Three, saying: “I’ll go, Suarez.”

Aguero, who almost signed for Chelsea is the superior Premier League player than Suarez due to the latter leaving Liverpool to join Barcelona a few years after heading to Anfield.

Who scored more goals when they were both in the Premier League: Luis Suarez or Sergio Aguero?

Suarez (65), who started 22 more league games than the injury-prone Aguero (52) during the same period did score 13 more goals than him.

However, the five-time Premier League winner was more clinical, as his goal-per-start ratio (0.71) was better than Suarez’s (0.68).

Where Rogers and any and everyone who watched the pair at the time will come together and agree is that both players were a joy to watch and made life hell for defenders week in and week out.
