‘More creative spark’, ‘more attacking’: Some Arsenal fans want 24-year-old to start tonight

Arsenal will look to make it two wins in a row against a fellow Premier League side from the capital in tonight’s encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

After running out 3-0 winners at Fulham last time out, Mikel Arteta’s charges host West Ham in an 8pm kickoff.

Although today’s opponents go into the game on the back of a League Cup win over Charlton, their opening league game saw them lose 2-0 at home to Newcastle.

One player who has enjoyed a renaissance at Arsenal of late is Mohamed Elneny, who began the summer as a fringe player on the way back from loan and ended it with his first Premier League start since May 2019.

The Egyptian was handed a chance by Arteta in pre-season, took it with both hands, and was rewarded with a start against Fulham, where he delivered a solid, hard-working and assured performance.

However, Dani Ceballos is now back up to speed and fully reintegrated at Arsenal after returning to the Emirates Stadium on loan, and his partnership with Granit Xhaka in midfield  last term was superb.

It leaves Arteta with a selection headache of the good kind, but some Gunners fans believe the 24-year-old Spaniard should be given the nod tonight:
