John McGinn produced a characteristically impressive performance for Aston Villa yesterday as they claimed a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers.
Aston Villa won for the fifth game in a row to move up to fifth in the table and bolster their chances of winning promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
McGinn was central to Aston Villa’s success yet again with a strong performance in the centre of the park. Performing both his defensive and attacking duties, McGinn ran the show.

The Scotland international provided the assist for Aston Villa’s second goal, delivering the ball for Tyrone Mings to head in. It was McGinn’s ninth assist of the season in the Championship, to go with his five goals.
And Aston Villa fans loved his run at the end as he eased the pressure on his side by carrying the ball from inside his own half on the right wing to the left corner flag.
At the end of his mazy dribble, the 24-year-old won a corner for his side and received a standing ovation from the crowd.
This is what Aston Villa fans had to say about McGinn.
