Momo Sissoko has told Italian outlet Europa Calcio that he believes Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane will leave the club to join Real Madrid – and also claimed that Mo Salah’s exit could benefit Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Both Mane and Salah have been in excellent form for The Reds once again this season, pushing Klopp’s team to within an inch of securing the Premier League title. The duo have scored a combined 38 goals, and laid on another 21 assists.
They are both in similar positions. Indeed, both ages 27, Salah and Mane have three years remaining on their contracts at Anfield – though Spotrac does claim Salah earns £200,000 a week, double what Mane is currently contracted to.
Former Liverpool midfielder Sissoko predicted that Senegal international Mane would leave Liverpool to join Real Madrid as he has the qualities Zinedine Zidane wants – and also suggested that Liverpool would benefit from Salah being sold.
“I don’t know if Salah will stay; if he were to leave the Reds, his farewell could be a good thing for Liverpool. The management is very intelligent. Liverpool know how to replace it; there are very strong people around who are ready to play,” Sissoko said.
“Real Madrid on Salah? No, I see Sadio Mané more, because he possesses the characteristics that Zidane wants, he values him very much; I think Sadio Mané will go to Real Madrid.”
TBR’s view – Salah and Mane need to be kept at Anfield
Yes, Salah is renowned for missing the odd chance and perhaps Mane’s best form only comes patches, but both players are excellent in the Premier League – and understand the Liverpool style of play under Klopp.
Both players need to be kept, especially while they are still scoring. Even if Liverpool bring in the likes of Jadon Sancho, Timo Werner of Kylian Mbappe, they should still remain in order to act as top-quality cover.
