Moises Caicedo delivered another imperious performance in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday evening.
Not only did the Chelsea midfielder open the scoring, but he also dominated the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the middle – Liverpool’s title-winning duo.
Moises Caicedo is already enjoying another brilliant campaign under Enzo Maresca, and he’s arguably more important than Cole Palmer at this point.
In the past, Paul Scholes called Caicedo ‘overrated’ at Chelsea, but the Ecuador international continues to prove him wrong, game after game.
And whether playing alongside Enzo Fernandez, Reece James or even Malo Gusto on this occasion, Caicedo always delivers a difference-making performance.
William Gallas compares Moises Caicedo to Claude Makelele at Chelsea
That being said, Caicedo spoke alongside former Chelsea player William Gallas in an interview shortly after full-time on Saturday evening.
And in praising Caicedo, Gallas actually compared the current Chelsea midfielder to former blue Claude Makelele.

Owing to his brilliance, Makelele will always have a special spot in Chelsea’s history books, a two-time Premier League winner who redefined the defensive midfield role.
And after Gallas’ modern-day comparison, Caicedo then revealed that the Frenchman, who left Chelsea to join Paris Saint-Germain for free in 2008, is actually his footballing idol.
Replying to Gallas’ praise, Caicedo said: “Thank you very much. For sure, Makelele, everybody knows him, what he did here, so he is my idol.
“I’m just trying to learn from him and yeah, doing my best here.”
And although Caicedo is yet to win the honours of his French counterpart at Chelsea, he certainly has the quality to do so.
Estevao Willian can also go on to become a Chelsea legend
In what was a very welcome addition to Caicedo’s opener, young Brazilian Estevao Willian came on to score Chelsea’s winner against Liverpool.
Despite only being 18 years old, Estevao has needed very little adaptation time to show his talent in English football.
Maresca is being careful with Estevao’s involvement right now, he’s managing the youngster’s minutes and the pressure on his performances.
But it’s clear that the Brazilian can already affect games at the highest level, hence why he’s just been called into Carlo Ancelotti’s latest squad.
Estevao loves playing with Cole Palmer at Chelsea, that’s something the youngster has already admitted.
And with Caicedo, Palmer and Estevao all around for the long-term, the future certainly looks bright for Chelsea.
