Despite reports that Fraser Forster is not on the way to Celtic this summer, one man who has agreed for another season at Parkhead from Southampton has admitted he has tried to convince him otherwise.
Mohamed Elyounoussi will spend a second season on loan at Celtic in 2020-21. However, it seems that Celtic’s star goalkeeper from last season will not be.
A report from STV suggests that Forster has decided to try and fight Alex McCarthy for the number one spot at St Mary’s next term. The Daily Mail claims that Celtic could allow Angus Gunn out on loan instead with Forster set to get a second chance under Ralph Hasenhuttl.

However, speaking to the press this week, as relayed by The Scottish Sun, the Norwegian forward admitted he has spoken to Forster and is still hopeful that Celtic can secure his signature.
“It’s his decision if he wants to stay there and I’ll support him either way. But, obviously, it would be good for us to have him here.
“I don’t know if that decision has been made or if he’s not sure yet. We’ll have to wait and see. We have other good goalkeepers here as well so I’m not too concerned about that.
“But it would be great for us to have him here for another year. I have talked to him and he’s not sure yet what he’s going to do. Hopefully he comes back here.”
Celtic would undoubtedly like to bring Forster back for next season especially now that Craig Gordon’s departure has been confirmed.
Scott Bain now remains as Celtic’s only regular first-team option and Celtic are being linked with the likes of Joe Hart and David Marshall as potential new recruits.
Whilst Elyounoussi would like Forster to follow him to Parkhead, it seems increasingly likely that is not going to be the case.
But the Norwegian will apparently not give up on his personal approach to bringing his team-mate to Celtic.
