Mohamed Diame for Isaac Hayden is a no-brainer for Newcastle

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has stepped into the side well enough during club’s injury crisis, but ultimately he should be axed when the big names return.

The 23-year-old has been an ever-present in the last seven consecutive Premier League games and is renowned for his defensive presence.

He provides a solid base in front of the back four, but ultimately he’s limited when on the ball and isn’t the quickest either.

Hayden should be repealed by powerhouse teammate Mo Diame, who is a better all-action option in the centre of the park.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has stated he hopes Diame will be available for the club’s next fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers (Chronicle).

Newcastle travel to Wolves next Monday in the Premier League and it would be a major boost if Diame can be involved.

The 31-year-old provides an excellent engine room in midfield and is an important player for Benitez.

He should be partnered alongside promising academy graduate Sean Longstaff, who has done more than Hayden in recent weeks to keep his place in the team.

There is the potential for there to be a great partnership between the duo, but Jonjo Shelvey is still return to the mix too.
