Mo Salah spotted looking confused as Liverpool made their way up Wembley steps

It wasn’t a vintage Mo Salah performance today but the Liverpool star was still on hand to smash in his penalty and help the Reds claim League Cup glory.

Salah had a glorious chance to win the game in normal time but saw his dinked finish over Edouard Mendy cleared off the line. Other than that, Salah was relatively quiet by his usual high standards. Of course, when it mattered, he was unflustered as he smashed his penalty past Kepa to keep the shootout going.

But while being unflustered on the pitch, it didn’t appear to be quite the same for Salah as he prepared to collect his medal.

As pointed out by BEIN Sports on their Twitter account, Salah was handed a mask of himself to take with him to lift the trophy at the top of the famous Wembley steps. But Salah, usually so cool and collected, appeared to get a little confused with this particular situation!

With others stepping up before Salah, there was a nagging feeling that we might not see Salah take a penalty for the second time in recent memory.

But, when it mattered, Salah didn’t half smash his penalty away with conviction. Heading into the sudden death part of a shootout is always nervy, but Salah’s confidence probably gave his fellow Liverpool players a lift.

So, while he might struggle putting his own face on his own face, when it comes to footballing matters, there aren’t too many better.
