Talksport regular and former Crystal Palace chief, Simon Jordan, believes that Liverpool should try and hold Mo Salah back in January, given his reported huge contract demands.
The Reds are set to love both Salah and Sadio Mane in January. The pair are due to play in the African Cup of Nations, and could miss crucial games in the Premier League. As things stand, Salah is yet to sign a new contract with Liverpool. His deal expires next summer, and FSG are trying to tie him down to fresh terms.

Differing reports on the wage demands have been put into the press. Some have suggested Salah could earn up to £500k-a-week if he does put pen to paper. However, speaking for Talksport this week, Simon Jordan thinks that sort of money is reason enough for the Reds to perhaps keep Salah in Liverpool in January.
“There is an argument to be said that if Mohamed Salah wants this new huge contract, then perhaps he shouldn’t be doing to play in the AFCON. And perhaps he should be held back by Liverpool,” Jordan said.
“Whether it be for quarantine restrictions or for the fact he’s getting a big contract, maybe he should stay and play for the club paying his wages.”
TBR’s View: Salah Will Want To Play For Egypt But Jordan Makes Fair Point
For the money Salah is reportedly going to be getting, it’s hard to argue with Jordan here. He does have a valid point, in that it is the Reds who shell out the fortunes for his services.
However, it won’t happen. Salah loves playing for his country and this is the equivalent of telling a player they can’t play in the Euros. Granted, the Euros happens outside of the season in England.
Ultimately, Liverpool’s priority here is Salah and his new contract. They have to get it done, even if it breaks the wage structure. Put simply, they just can’t replace him.
