Liverpool forward Mo Salah is unlikely to sign a new contract with the club, according to sources close to the Egyptian in his homeland.
That’s according to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney anyway, who writes in his weekly newsletter that Salah is definitely not signing a new contract. Delaney sites media sources in Egypt as well as what labels as ‘figures with knowledge of the situation’.

It’s reported that Liverpool are getting nowhere near what Salah wants in terms of wages in a new deal. As has been widely reported, it’s said the Reds will need to smash their wage structure to keep hold of their star man. Salah is apparently refusing to budge from his demands, causing an issue for the Reds.
There is a caveat in the report that this doesn’t mean a deal cannot be struck. However, it will be a new worry for Liverpool fans, who are desperate to see Salah pen a new contract.
TBR’s View: Salah And Liverpool Bound To Clash On New Contract
There is a strange limbo for Liverpool to deal with here. On one hand, they don’t want to destroy the structure of the club’s wages. On the reverse, they know that replacing Salah will be nigh on impossible and that giving him big money could be worth it.
Ultimately, you feel there needs to be an element of compromise here. Salah is obviously worth big money compared to some in the game. But equally, Liverpool have their own house to keep in order.
Should Salah end up leaving, you feel it will leave a sour taste for the Anfield faithful.
