Mkhitaryan is statistically ‘outperforming’ Tottenham favourite

Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan hasn’t exactly flown out of the traps since rocking up at the Emirates Stadium in January 2018.

The move was greeted with skepticism by a number of Arsenal fans, with the ex-Borussia Dortmund man having had an indifferent stint at Old Trafford.

He has received some criticism for not impacting games as much as he perhaps should, but in recent weeks the player appears to have stepped it up a bit.

So much so, that he is now outperforming a Tottenham regular.

Mkhitaryan currently better than Alli?

According to talkSPORT, Mkhitaryan is actually having a ‘better’ season than Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli.

The pair have both made 17 appearances this term, and the Arsenal man comes out on top in almost every category.

Mkhitaryan has more goals (six to Alli’s five), more assists (four to one), a better goals-per-game ratio (0.35 to 0.29), a better minutes-per-goal ratio (179 to 240), and a tendency to shoot more (34 to 25).

For someone who has received a fair bit of stick from the Spurs faithful and even some Arsenal supporters, he should be commended for quietly going about a good season.

He is not setting the world alight, but the statistics do indicate that he perhaps hasn’t been as bad as many believe.

Alli certainly hasn’t received much flack for his apparent poor form. Perhaps that has been due to Tottenham being better as a collective and also the fact that he has struggled with injury.
