The Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are in the hunt for Leeds United winger Jack Clarke this summer. The report claims that Mauricio Pochettino is a fan of the attacker and a £10 million bid is being readied by the London club.
Clarke had a breakthrough season at Leeds. He played 22 times this season and had an exceptional run of form over December and January. Were it not for a bout of illness which saw him collapse during a game with Middlesbrough in February he could have had an even more impressive campaign.
Tottenham have been linked with Clarke before and the club’s need to bring in more homegrown talents has been made clear in recent months.
So how have the fans taken the news?
It has certainly been a mixed reaction. On the one hand, many Tottenham fans appreciate the immense talent Clarke possesses. Pochettino could work wonders with the teenager. Dele Alli is proof that there are gems in the Football League and Clarke could be one of them.
However, others feel Tottenham now need to be aiming higher. Fans want to see established Champions League or Premier League talent arriving at Spurs. With the club in the Champions League final and hoping to forge a title fight, such targets have to be necessary.
Overall, it seems like a split decision and Clarke would have plenty to prove if Tottenham did make a move for the player…
Whenever Leeds have been on Sky and he has come on , he has certainly looked lively…Under Poch, this boy could be something special

Why not? We have arguably had more success with developing young players than signing “proven” players. Don’t get me wrong, there needs to be a balance between both. But the way I see it, bringing in anyone with potential is good after two windows of no one.

(Some) Spurs fans – “We don’t want Championship Players, we’re better than that”
Also (Some) Spurs fans :” I can’t believe Levy didn’t buy Maddison and Brooks last summer, they’re too expensive now! ” 🤷🏼♂️

If we’re looking at championship wingers I’d rather go for Jarrod Bowen.

Dele wasn’t championship when we got him. Young talent and quality is what we need to grow. Not a bunch of galactic failing mercaneries.

Cos he don’t cost the world and Dave from Basildon ain’t heard of him he can’t be good. 😂. Sign him up in Poch we trust

This isn’t Bale

This has to be nonsense. No way Leeds are selling their best young talent for £10m.

I don’t get the negativity. Just because we sign a young championship player doesn’t mean we can’t land any big fish. He played a season under Bielsa, as well, so you know he will have no problems adjusting to the training regime.

We got plenty time to sign future prospects. The tight gits need to sign top quality players to immediately improve our team
