‘Missing’… Pundit says 6ft 4 Arsenal player is actually way too weak

In theory, Arsenal should have one of the strongest and most powerful teams in the Premier League.

The likes of William Saliba, Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes are all man mountains, and, at the back, Arsenal are incredibly strong.

However, in an attacking sense, the Gunners are lacking a lot of power and drive, and speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has highlighted this issue.

Clarke stated that Arsenal are missing power within their team, claiming that both Jorginho and Kai Havertz don’t have that same physical presence that Granit Xhaka or Thomas Partey did last season to open up the pitch and dominate opponents.

Havertz and Jorginho aren’t powerful enough

Clarke spoke about the two midfielders.

“One thing we are missing is power. We talked about Xhaka there, a powerful player, and Partey, a powerful player. Jorginho as neat and tidy as he is and Havertz as talented as he is, they don’t have dynamism and they don’t have physical power when we attack. That power opens up the pitch sometimes and we don’t have enough players with it,” Clarke said.

Inexcusable

We can absolutely see where Clarke is coming from here, and, in all honesty, it’s inexcusable for a player like Havertz to be accused of being too weak.

Havertz is blessed with a massive frame. He stands at 6 ft 4 and should be one of the most physically imposing players in the league.

Instead though, he’s easily bullied in that midfield and he looks scared to commit himself at times.

The German needs to stop playing with fear and also hit the gym to bulk up a bit, because a player of his size should never be accused of being too weak.

There are a lot of issues that Havertz needs to address right now, and his lack of physical presence is certainly one of them.
