Newcastle United have lost three key men this summer in Rafa Benitez, Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon. Benitez left after the club’s hierarchy failed to back his ambition and he has since moved to Dalian Yifang.
After Benitez’s departure, it was clear that Rondon was unlikely to return. Then, Perez left and joined Leicester City in a £30m deal (according to BBC Sport). Others like Martin Dubravka, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff and Fabian Schar could also leave.
And Newcastle’s woes have been compounded with the appointment of unpopular figure Steve Bruce before their 4-0 drubbing in the Asia Trophy against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
This is why Newcastle fans have been reminiscing about Perez and his form. The Spaniard scored on his debut for Leicester, prompting Newcastle fans to share their thoughts.
The 25-year-old scored 12 goals last season – his best tally to date – and played a key role for Newcastle. Newcastle fans are already missing Perez, especially after their poor showing against Wolves.
Here are some tweets from Newcastle fans discussing Perez’s debut goal for the Foxes.
Must be nice to be at a club that wants to improve

Well done Ayoze. You’ll be great for #LCFC. Gutted you’re not at NUFC now.

All the best Ayo. You’ll prove the signing of the season when @LCFC make top 4. Absolutely right to leave Newcastle. Some fans wouldn’t know quality if it jumped up, slapped them round the face and top scored two seasons in a row. All the best 👍🏼
