Everton defender Yerry Mina has had a disappointing first season in the Premier League so far.
The giant Colombian has endured a stop-start campaign with the Toffees as a result of various injury niggles, resulting in him making just 13 appearances.
The World Cup star did not come cheap last summer at £28.5 million from Barcelona (The Daily Mail), and big things were expected of him after a stellar showing in Russia.
But his time at the club has been hugely disappointing so far. Even when he does get a rare outing for the Toffees, he frustratingly fails to convince for the most-part.
Chelsea game a huge chance
Mina struggled last time out against Newcastle United after coming on as a second half substitute.
It will therefore be hugely important for him to take his chance against Chelsea this weekend.
One would imagine Mina will start alongside Michael Keane, because loan star Kurt Zouma is ineligible to face his parent club.
For many Everton fans, the clash with the Blues will serve as an indicator as to whether Mina can turn things around at Goodison Park.
He needs a strong showing against Gonzalo Higuain to show the fans that he does have something to offer and that he isn’t a waste of money.
