Senior Liverpool stars James Milner, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren all directed their praise towards the club’s youngsters after they helped beat MK Dons 2-0 in the Carabao Cup.
Jurgen Klopp’s side advanced through to the fourth round with the victory, and they will now face a potentially tricky visit from Arsenal.
It was Milner who opened the scoring at Stadium MK, albeit rather fortuitously, and Ki-Jana Hoever put the game to bed with a second half header.
The majority of Liverpool’s young players put in great performances on the night, with 16-year-old Harvey Elliott catching the eye in particular.
The summer signing from Fulham, who last season became the youngest player to make a Premier League appearance, gave MK Dons real problems from the right and twice struck the crossbar for the visitors.
Curtis Jones was named Man of the Match, and Hoever was also excellent at right-back, as was debutant Caoimhín Kelleher.
Posting on Instagram, Milner said: “Nice to keep up my scoring record at MK. Even better to see the young boys doing well #hoeverwouldhavethoughtit #EFLCup #YNWA.
Lallana echoed the Englishman’s sentiments, writing: “Job done and into the next round… congrats to the young lads who made their debuts.”

Lovren added: “After a long time, its great to be on the pitch again. Happy for some of the youngsters how they played today, well done all together. Into the next round #ynwa.”
With Arsenal lying in wait in the next round, it will be interesting to see if Klopp puts his faith in the same set of players.
The Gunners also fielded a team of younger players in their game with Nottingham Forest, but both managers could be tempted to throw in more senior stars for next month’s clash.
