Arsenal closed the gap at the top of the Premier League back down to six points by beating Brentford, however, Mikel Arteta has been warned he must make two signings to compete with Liverpool.
Arsenal are putting together quite an impressive run of form having gone nine-game unbeaten but they know how much work is left to do. For the last two seasons, Arteta’s team have come up just short in the title race and will be aware of the lengths they must go to in order to win it.
So despite their squad looking strong, any remaining areas of concern should be addressed in January and according to TNT Sport pundit Karen Carney, there are two positions.

Arsenal must sign a left winger and Bukayo Saka cover
Former Arsenal women’s player Karen Carney has told Mikel Arteta he must sign a left winger and a replacement for Bukayo Saka to compete with Liverpool. Carney claims the left side of Arsenal’s team is not producing enough goals and this issue must be fixed.
Carney said on TNT Sport: “I think they need to go and buy two more players, they need another left-winger, I think they’re fine with Havertz and Jesus in that false nine and obviously with Saka now out that’s a bit of a problem, but until they start getting more numbers from that left-hand side – I don’t think they can compete with Liverpool.
“Defensively they’re solid, set pieces they’re solid, physically they’re unbelievable, but the thing that will stop them from winning it is the output from the left-hand side and now Saka’s gone it’s a problem.”
Why Gabriel Martinelli is not doing enough for Arsenal
Gabriel Martinelli is the North London club’s first-choice left winger and he has eight goal contributions this term. For Liverpool, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo both have 15-goal contributions and Mohamed Salah is of course flying with 37.
With Arsenal having just lost Saka to a long-term hamstring injury, it is now more important than ever that the Gunners add another forward who can contribute more goals for the team. Ethan Nwaneri made a great start against Brentford but he won’t make up the firepower they will need to stick with the Reds.
