Mikel Arteta should look to bring back Aaron Ramsey after Juventus failings

Aaron Ramsey is reportedly on his way out of Juventus after less than a year in Italy and Mikel Arteta should be looking at bringing the Welshman back.

After over five years with the Gunners, Ramsey sealed a glamour move to the Italian giants last year.

However, things have not gone too smoothly for the 29-year-old. He’s made only 12 appearances this term in Turin and has managed just a solitary Serie A goal.

In a team full of world-class players, it looks like Ramsey is just coming up short in terms of what’s expected of him.

But with a new manager in charge at the Emirates in Mikel Arteta, Ramsey might well fancy the switch back to England if rumours of a potential move are true.

Of course, Arsenal would need to shell out a fee for Ramsey. Juventus are not silly when it comes to the transfer market. They will, therefore, be seeking a profit on a man they signed for nothing.

Always a strange move

It was always a bit of a bizarre one, to be honest when talks of Ramsey signing for Juventus emerged.

However, the move did go through. Ramsey signed a mega-money contract and left Arsenal with a gaping hole to fill in their midfield.

That gap has not been filled adequately, either. Unai Emery struggled to get his team going, while Mikel Arteta is still in the process of implementing his own playing style on proceedings.

While Ramsey is a fine player, there was always a risk that things wouldn’t work in Turin. That, it seems, appears to be the case as things stand.

A quality and ready-made addition

Given Arsenal’s record in the transfer market of late, the signing of Ramsey would be a relatively low-risk one.

They’d be getting a player back who knows the club and the culture around the place. They’d also be getting someone who knows exactly what it takes to compete in the Premier League.

The likes of Nicolas Pepe have taken a while to adapt to the English game. Arsenal would not have that problem with Ramsey.

Furthermore, with Mesut Ozil still not back to his best, Ramsey would bring a midfield goal-threat, too.

Ramsey scored seven times in the 17/18 season for the Gunners. He also contributed ten assists in the Premier League that season.

Those sorts of numbers are impressive for a midfield player. On the surface, then, this looks like the perfect move for all parties if they can indeed strike a deal.
