Mikel Arteta says one Arsenal player has been training so hard ahead of NLD
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised Granit Xhaka for how well he’s trained and looked after himself ahead of the North London derby.
Sunday sees the Gunners and Tottenham lock horns at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.
Arsenal are in great form, having won their last two league games by a goal to nil.
In addition, the Gunners reached the fourth round of the Carabao Cup thanks to their midweek 3-0 win over Wimbledon.
While Spurs also won their midweek cup game, they’ve lost their last two league matches by three goals to nil.
Xhaka is back from suspension after his red card in the Gunners’ 5-0 defeat at Manchester City in August.
He also tested positive for covid in September, but Arteta says he’s in great shape as he “really looks after himself”.
The Gunners boss has to decide whether to reinstate the Switzerland international to the starting XI amid competition from the likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga.
However, Arteta is happy he can count on Xhaka in terms of being available and match-fit.
“(Xhaka) came back and he was fine because he really looks after himself,” he told the Arsenal media team.
“He was training and as he always is, he gives you the maximum and the best possible attitude to compete and win matches.”
