Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has been delighted with new signing Takehiro Tomiyasu since he signed, admitting the Japanese star has a ‘presence’ about him.

The Gunners made a surprise late move to bring Tomiyasu to The Emirates late during the transfer window. The defender was thrown straight in against Norwich City last week. And on the day, he impressed as well.

Tomiyasu has also left a big impression on his new manager, Mikel Arteta.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash with Burnley, the Gunners boss admitted that the ‘reassuring’ nature of Tomiyasu has impressed him.

“He’s fully committed, he goes for every ball, he’s reassuring, he’s got a presence & he’s a very honest player. You could see the reaction & the connection he had straightaway with the fans. It was very pleasing because it was so quick,” the Arsenal manager told his presser.

Tomiyasu will once again be given the nod today at Burnley. Of course, that will be a completely different kettle of fish for the Japanese star to deal with.

TBR’s View: Tomiyasu looking like good business for Arsenal

It was quite the surprise when Arsenal made the late move to bring Tomiyasu into the club. But you can see already just why they did it.

The Gunners needed a new defender on that right side and the former Bologna man looks to have solved the issue. He is comfortable at right-back, but also looks like he can play in a back three if needs to do that.

It is, of course, early days, but at the moment, you feel like Arsenal have got things spot on with this signing.
