Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club will hold contract talks “soon” with Alexandre Lacazette over his future.
The centre-forward’s deal at the Emirates Stadium is due to expire in 2022, with Football London suggesting that his exit could be on the cards this summer and that he wouldn’t be offered a new contract.
Lacazette has scored 11 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions this season, but his form is very inconsistent.
The 29-year-old Frenchman has 59 goals in 157 Arsenal appearances, but suggestions are that his long-term future may not be at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta has revealed that discussions are imminent between the Gunners and their attacker Lacazette.
“He’s got a contract with us. He played really well the other week. It’s exactly what we demand him to do. I am really happy with him and the discussions about his contract will happen soon and we’ll see what happens,” he said, as quoted by Football.London.

TBR’s View:
If Lacazette is fit and firing, then the central striker can be lethal in front of goal and a great option to lead the line.
There may be a risk handing him a big contract given the fact he turns 30 in a couple of months time, but a counterargument to that would be the fact they were prepared to do just that for Willian last summer.
It’ll be interesting to see the outcome of Lacazette’s contract talks, as he’s certainly still capable of making a big impact and he scored in the weekend Premier League victory away to Leicester City.
