Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has left the door open on Martin Odegaard potentially starting for the Gunners in Saturday’s big Premier League clash.
The North Londoners host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in one of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the English football calendar.
Arsenal have enjoyed a resurgence in recent weeks, and now sit ninth in the table, just five points adrift of the top four.
United, meanwhile, are vying for top spot in the table, sitting just one points behind leaders Manchester City.
Arsenal have been boosted by the arrival of Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid, the 22-year-old joining the Gunners on Wednesday.
Asked by football.london whether Odegaard could start for the meeting with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, Arteta replied: “It’s a little bit early to decide.
“Let’s see how he goes in training and we will see, don’t worry.”
When reports of Odegaard looking for a loan move first emerged, plenty of Arsenal fans called for the club to join the race for his signature.
Things moved really quickly and now he’s at the Emirates Stadium, a huge signing for the Gunners, who now have two exciting No. 10s in the ranks.
Odegaard hasn’t had much game time this season so it remains to be seen whether he’ll need a little time to get up to scratch.
However, Arteta hasn’t ruled him out of the match, so you wonder whether he could potentially come on later on in the game as a replacement for Emile Smith Rowe.
