Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has lavished praise on Martin Odegaard and believes the Norwegian can get even better for the Gunners.

Arteta put Odegaard into the first XI last time out and he impressed against Leeds. His link up play, eye for a pass, and intelligence in the final third helping the Gunners overcome Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

And speaking in his press conference this week, Arteta has lavished praise on Odegaard, revealing he is a leader as well in the team.

He’s a really focused and humble boy that was really keen to join, but he just wants to play football in the right way and then he said some really good things,” Arteta said.

“He’s a really nice guy, the players like him, the staff like him, he’s easy going, a really hard worker, and I’ve been very impressed with his leadership. He looks a little bit calm but on the pitch he’s got something about him. I’ve been really impressed with him. It’s how he talks to his teammates and how he, for example, commands the high press.”

Odegaard will be hoping to get even more chances in the coming weeks for the Gunners. It remains to be seen whether his move will be turned permanent, with differening opinions on whether Madrid will want him back or not.

TBR View: A surprising character trait but Odegaard has been at the very best club

Sometimes players who have played for the very best instantly make those demands when they join a new club. That seems to be what Odegaard is doing since joining Arsenal.

Everyone knows he has talent. But to hear he is a great leader too is interesting and will be pleasing for the Gunners supporters.
