Mikel Arteta has commented on Dani Ceballos’s performance following Arsenal’s draw with Leicester City on Tuesday, in comments reported by Football London.

Ceballos has been in excellent form since the season resumed. And Arteta suggested ahead of the clash with the Foxes that he would love to see the club agree to keep the 23-year-old beyond the end of his loan (via Football London).

It was a frustrating night for the Gunners at the Emirates. Leicester scored a late equaliser, and many fans felt aggrieved with the decision to ultimately send Eddie Nketiah off given Jamie Vardy escaped punishment for an incident during the first-half.

But Arteta was able to reflect on some positives following the game. He insisted that he was delighted with what he saw from his countryman when asked about Ceballos’s display.

“He was superb again, him and Granit are creating a really good understanding. They give a lot of stability, a lot of balance as well with the ball to make the right decision in transition moments,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“They are evolving a lot together. Defensively Dani has made a big step forwards with his pressing, the amount of interceptions and tackles he’s making and he is enjoying it.”

TBR View: Keeping Ceballos becoming a bigger priority for Arsenal with each passing game

Ceballos seemed to take some time to get going at Arsenal. And had his loan ended in January, plenty of Gunners fans would have probably had little interest in seeing him return.

But he has been excellent in more recent times. And thus, keeping Ceballos in some capacity heading into next season looks to be becoming fairly imperative to Arteta.

As Arteta notes, Ceballos’s partnership with Granit Xhaka is developing nicely. It would be a big blow therefore, for Arsenal to miss out on keeping the former ahead of next season.
