Mikel Arteta says Arsenal star Thomas Partey makes 'the rest better' after Burnley win
Arsenal made it successive 1-0 wins yesterday as they saw off Burnley at Turf Moor to really get their Premier League campaign up and running.
It’s now six points from six for the Gunners, who will have been delighted with the clean-sheet and three points at what is a tough place to go.
Martin Odegaard’s fine goal was enough for the Gunners. The Norwegian adding a moment of class to a game which, at the time, sorely needed it.
Aaron Ramsdale was once again in fine form. He nearly gave a penalty away, but VAR showed he had actually made a crucial block.
But while Ramsdale was good, it was midfielder Thomas Partey who also caught the eye. Including that of his manager, Mikel Arteta.
Arteta praises Partey for Arsenal performance
Although Partey left the game after 75 minutes with what could be another knock, Arteta felt the Ghanaian had a big influence on the game.
Speaking to Football.London after the game, the Spaniard insisted that his £45m man makes the rest of his team better.
“He’s the anchor. He’s the one who reads what is happening and makes the rest better. How he manages the transition, his pressing, he has a charisma,” Arteta said of Partey.
Certainly, should Partey be missing for any period of time again, then Arsenal will indeed be at a huge disadvantage.
TBR’s View: Partey the glue for Arsenal
Most teams have a midfielder who they can’t really do without and for Arsenal, that man is Thomas Partey.
When he plays, you just instantly sense the Gunners will have more about them in midfield. He brings power, strength, and composure to an otherwise busy area.
If Partey is fit, Arsenal can fight for the top six. Without him, it becomes a huge uphill battle.
